About Us

Based in New York City, Excellence Community Schools (ECS) evolved from the success of our flagship school, Bronx Charter School for Excellence (K-8). ECS is the charter management organization of the Bronx Excellence network of schools, and the ECS affiliate school, Stamford Excellence. Our programs are based on a proven, nationally recognized model. Our Model is the basis for Bronx Excellence's National Blue Ribbon from the U.S. Department of Education in the category of Exemplary High-Performing Schools.

Each of our schools offers a collaborative learning environment and a rigorous curriculum rooted in evidence-based best practices. We have high expectations for all of our scholars and support them by providing individualized attention to meet each child’s academic needs. Literacy and mathematics are a core focus of our curriculum, with more than two hours per day spent on language arts and math.

Through the replication of our learning model and expansion of our schools, we aim to provide quality educational programs to students and families in high-need neighborhoods and communities. We are committed to using the power of education to elevate every student, family, and the surrounding communities we serve at Bronx Excellence 2, Bronx Excellence 3, Bronx Excellence 4, and Bronx Excellence 5. These campuses will grow one grade level each year until they reach full capacity as K-8 schools throughout the borough. Stamford Excellence will also grow to full capacity as a PK-8 school.

Our schools prepare young scholars to compete for admission to and succeed in top public, independent, and parochial high schools by cultivating their intellectual, artistic, social, emotional, and ethical development. We accomplish this by offering a challenging and rigorous academic curriculum, which at the earliest of grades has an eye towards college preparation. To achieve this, our schools create a supportive and caring environment that has high expectations of all students. We offer a differentiated, project-based learning environment that develops high-level analytical and critical thinking skills in all of our students. Our engaging approach to educating our scholars is implemented by a collaborative team of teachers.
