The Bronx Charter School for Excellence (BCSE), also known as Bronx Excellence 1-5 and Middle, is a K-8 free, public charter school network serving the Parkchester, Morris Park, Wakefield, and Tremont neighborhoods of the Bronx, NY. Bronx Excellence is among the highest performing charter schools in New York City and State. In 2012, Bronx Excellence gained recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School – the U.S. Department of Education’s highest honor for schools across the country.

2019-2020 Recognition School

Bronx Excellence 2 was named as a Recognition School for 2019-2020 by the New York State Education Department. 

State Exam Performance

For at least the past five years, Bronx Excellence scholars have outperformed 80% of the schools in New York State in English Language Arts, and 75% of the state's public schools in math on annual state exams. 

School Achievement

Bronx Excellence has received an EXCELLENT rating by the NYC Department of Education's Quality Snapshot Rating in fields that included Rigorous Instructions, Supportive Environment, and Student Achievement. 

Blue Ribbon Award

In 2012, Bronx Excellence 1 was the first charter school in the Bronx to receive a National Blue Ribbon, awarded by the United States Department of Education in the category of Exemplary High Performing Schools.
